    A Trout Spey Winner!!!

I have been using this rod now for a few weeks and I must say the rod is stellar, a true winner in the trout spey world. I purchased the 3wt which is the sweet spot in this class of rod as it is able to deliver light soft hackles as well as small streamers with ease (remember, add "3" to the spey rod weight to get the single hand rod equivalent). While this rod is not as fast as another 4wt trout spey rod I own from a competitor, the DNA Trout Spey still has what it takes to move the flies through a stiff breeze and I am able to feel every little bump made to the fly. I find the rod matches perfectly with the 3wt Rio In Touch Trout Spey line, which is a Scandi style line. The rod is beautiful and the construction is outstanding, it has quickly become my favorite rod and is the one I grab as I head out the door. I can highly recommend this rod to anyone looking to get into trout spey, it is worth every penny!

    DNA Trout Spey #3

Recently acquired this rod and submitted it to the rigours of my opening week, high and cold water in mid-Sweden.... What a delicate presenter it is, light in the hand yet powerful to beat the wind when needed, delivered nymphs and wets accurately at distance, yet allowed for detecting the slightest bites! The rod didn't leave my side for the rest of the week and delivered some cracking fish! This is a new favourite!!!

    The DNA Trout Spey Quiver

I have fallen hard for two-hand rods and spey style delivery to trout. Perhaps this obsession is just an extension of a decades long addiction to chasing steelhead with two-handers or perhaps just the desire for another tool in the quest for trout. Either case, the T&T DNA Trout Spey rods really help me cover big western water.

The action of the DNA Trout Spey lineup is what I would call crisp; moderately fast and capable of punching tight loops into a stiff western breeze. These rods throw darts, but reward “timing and technique” over brute force or lazy execution. These rods are amazingly light in hand. I really like the 11’6” to 11’9” length of these rods for big water delivery and line control. The DNA Trout Spey line up handles modern skagit or scandi lines. The DNA taper enables these rods to be quite versatile, making your transition between sustained anchor to touch-and-go casting techniques straight forward. The sweet spot as far as line weight goes is very personal, but I can say that these rods respond consistently to a fairly wide range of grain weights with just minor tweaks to your casting stroke. I take advantage of this versatility by switching to a little heavier head (maybe 30 grains or so) in windy conditions or to help turn over larger (or heavier) flies. And, when casting small soft hackles I loop on a Scandi around 30 grains lighter for a delicate presentation. “Versatile yet precise,” that’s how I would characterize the DNA Trout Spey line up.
