Fishing in the surf presents some unique opportunities and challenges for the fly angler. Wind and waves make it difficult to handle line and achieve maximum casting distance. That’s why T&T has built a pair of rods to make it more effective and enjoyable to fly fish in the surf. Exocett Surf rods are a pair of specialized 11’2” rods intended to cast overhead with two hands. The powerful multi-modulus StratoTherm blank has a crisp action that excels in casting overweight shooting heads and compact integrated fly lines past the breakers. An elongated full wells upper grip and rounded Spey style lower grip makes for a comfortable and powerful overhead casting stroke while throwing Outbound or similar style shooting heads.

 Features:

  • 4-piece multi-modulus blank with stealth matte “T&T Blue” Low-Friction Finish
  • Solid titanium-frame stripping guides with Zirconia ceramic insert standard
  • Elongated full wells grip and rounded Spey style lower grip
  • Milled aluminum up-locking saltwater reel seat

Please Note: All T&T rods are handcrafted in Greenfield, MA. Please allow 6-8 weeks for our craftsman to build your rod.

Rocket for Two Handed Overhead!

After an injury I needed something to fish huge pike with using a two-handed overhead cast, because my right arm needed some help. While not designed for this application it was just what the doctor ordered. I can toss enormous pike and musky flies for a week straight without issue. I have both the 10 and 12, and if they offered it in an 8 and a 6 I would be making some additional purchases, after a talk with my wife of course. ;)

I even used it chasing steelhead and landed some really large fish. Maybe one of these days I'll actually use it in the surf, but for now exploring northern waters as a two handed overhead is a lot of fun and very rewarding.

exactly what the doctor ordered

fishing for monster reds in Louisiana requires lots of casting. lots. last year my balky shoulder hurt for two weeks after my trip. this year-the two handed rod took all the stress off my shoulder and threw that fly farther than my single handed rod. a perfect rod for the job.
