Years Fishing?

All of them

Years Guiding?

20

Who introduced you to fly fishing?

My Dad

Can you tell us a little about your home waters and the fish you pursue there?

I have been fishing the waters around Southern New England for my whole life. I primarily guide the waters around the Elizabeth Islands and Buzzards Bay. These deep green waters and rocky shorelines are home to the best Striped Bass fishing in the world. I do this for 4 Months every year because winter in New England sucks. In addition, I fish out of Boca Grande Florida and The Everglades National Park. I have some of the best backcountry fly fishing in Southwest Florida right out my back door. I have a super shallow water Hells Bay Skiff that allows me to fish in water that most people will never reach. In addition, the Everglades National Park is a 2 million acre fishing paradise.

What's the height of the season for you? What time of year is your personal favorite?

I love it all, but there is something special about the hottest part of the summer when you can catch a 50 lb. Striped Bass on the fly rod.

What are your favorite travel destinations? What's on the bucket list?

Anywhere with a cool running mountain stream that is full of trout or smallmouth bass. New Zealand !

What do you like most about Thomas and Thomas rods? Which rods do you fish?

The feel. Exocett, Exocett SS, and Horizon

What's your current go-to fly?

Anything white.

Other than fly tackle, what piece of gear do you find indispensable?

A good outboard never hurts.

My favorite thing about guiding is:

I dont really like guiding, I hate it really, it just takes time away from fishing by myself.

From the angler’s point of view, what do you see as the main value of going on a guided trip?

Catching Big Ass fish, Duh !

What can new fisherman expect to get out of a guided trip? My favorite thing to teach a client is ...

They may be called a newby. Everything I know and how to unlearn most of what they have learned in the past.

What fly fishing blogs/magazines do you read regularly?

The Drake

When I'm not fishing you'll find me:

Usually hunting or fixing a boat, but my favorite thing in the whole world is to get on my 97 CR250 screemin' eagle and pretend I am number 69.
