Who introduced you to Fly Fishing? 

I grew up spin fishing in Virginia, a few friends introduced me to fly fishing and the rest was history.

Can you tell us a little about your home waters and the fish you pursue there? 

For the last decade, my home waters have been the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The Jackson Hole area has so much to offer from small streams, to stillwater, to larger tail waters such as the South Fork of the Snake.

What's the height of the season for you? And what time of year is your personal favorite? 

Height of the season here is typically June through the middle of October. My personal favorite is early and late season—April/May and September/October.

What are your favorite travel destinations? What’s on the bucket list?

My favorite travel destinations are the Seychelles, Australia, and Mexico. Bucket list destinations for me are St. Brandon’s Atoll and some others that are a bit more off the grid.

What you like most about Thomas and Thomas rods? Which rods do you fish?

T&T rods are built with the angler in mind. Purpose built rods that are the right tool for the job.

Avantt II 5-6wt for general trout fishing. Paradigm 5wt for small dry fly fishing. Exocett 88 and Sextants 9-11wt for flats fishing.

What’s your current go-to fly?

Trout - Water walker if I am fishing on top, jigged goldie if subsurface
Permit - Strong Arm Crab, floating crab, flexo
Giant Trevally - Beast fleye
Tarpon - Tarpon toad

Other than fly tackle, what piece of gear do you find indispensable?

A good pair of sunnies. The best part of fly fishing is often the show!

What is your favorite thing about guiding?

Sharing the experience with nature and passion for the sport with other anglers.

From the angler’s point of view, what do you see as the main value of going on a guided trip?

Whether its a guided trip or hosted trip, there is a huge advantage to having someone there that has in depth knowledge of the area. You will learn a lot and gather a ton of information that isn’t necessarily readily available.

What can new fisherman expect to get out of a guided trip? My favorite thing to teach a client is ...

To learn something new! The beauty of fly fishing is that no matter how long you have been fishing, there is always more to learn.

What’s your ideal lunch when on the water? What do you actually pack?

Hard to beat a good sando.
