Years Fishing?

50

Who introduced you to fly fishing?

Enzo Ceravolo, in Buenos Aires.

Can you tell us a little about your home waters and the fish you pursue there?

The Jungle is my place in the world. Is in those waters where I feel more comfortable. Although I was born and raised fishing in Argentina, the features of Tsimane define my home as an angler: transparent waters, mountains, wild animals, and the monarchic presence of the Amazonian Dorado: a fish sacred to the indigenous people as well as to myself.

What's the height of the season for you? What time of year is your personal favorite?

I love September. Everything in the jungle gets really cool then, and it´s also my birthday! :)

What are your favorite travel destinations? What's on the bucket list?

I really loved Seychelles when we had the opportunity to develop Desroches Fly Fishing Adventures, but I definitely prefer to fish in the Jungle. I would love to fish someday for that huge bass of Papua New Guinea, that´s on my bucket list.

What do you like most about Thomas and Thomas rods? Which rods do you fish?

Thomas and Thomas deliver because I pull on them like no other. I only have one brand of rod, 5.7.8.9.10.12 .14/16 most are horizon II.

Other than fly tackle, what piece of gear do you find indispensable?

My old hat.

My favorite thing about guiding is:

I´m not a guide but I use to guide some of our guests in our destinations. I love to see that they feel something really close to what we imagined when we designed the fishery.

From the angler’s point of view, what do you see as the main value of going on a guided trip?

Nowadays I cannot imagine a fishing trip without a guide. As far as you grow as an angler you learn how important is to have someone who can help you to understand the fishery and enjoy it´s best aspects. In a new place, the difference between fishing with or without a guide could be everything against zero.

What can new fisherman expect to get out of a guided trip? My favorite thing to teach a client is ...

To enjoy the environment where he´s fishing. It´s not just about catching fish but feeling the whole experience. Every destination has its own soul, techniques, customs, smell, animals, people, sayings, legends. All of it, besides the fishing, creates an experience of a lifetime.

What's your ideal lunch when on the water? What do you actually pack?

Chicken and potato tortillas. Easy and very nutritious. Not diet things for lunch in the jungle.

What fly fishing blogs/magazines do you read regularly?

Fly Fisherman and The Mission. I´m also a fan of Catch Magazine.

When I'm not fishing you'll find me:

If you find me, probably I´m at home or at the office. But if you don´t find me, hopefully, I will be exploring a new river and dreaming about a new fishery there.
